Founded in 1902, the AΩA Honor Medical Society recognizes high academic achievement while at the same time encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community. Members are selected based on high academic achievement, and nominees should also excel in several non-academic areas set forth by the AΩA Constitution, including:

  • Leadership among their peers
  • Professionalism and a firm sense of ethics
  • Promise of future success in medicine
  • Commitment to service in the school and community

To be eligible for AΩA selection, one must meet a specific set of academic criteria. Please view the Registrar's website for additional details regarding the academic calculation process.

The newly-elected junior and senior AΩA members for each academic year are announced via email in the fall, and their names are listed on the Members page.

The annual induction ceremony is held each academic year. Details are emailed to all current AΩA Alpha of Illinois members.
